Company History

Intocast’s UK has a  manufacturing site that is based on Chesterton Rd in Rotherham.

We first began trading as Handsworth Refractories in 1963. Handsworth specialised in re-cycling throughout many varied industries including the Steel, Glass, Cement & Petrochemical industries. Handsworth Refractories extract a range of spent materials from a variety of Furnaces, Ladles & transfer Vessels and subsequently categorise & enhance these products into specific customer requirements.

For over 40 years now, the company has maintained its status at the forefront of the refractory recycling industry whilst adding new products to its extensive portfolio to “keep abreast” on the ever changing times and technology.

Handsworth Refractories as a company, was acquired by Intocast group in 2006 with the current Directors being Matthias Normann and Tim Johnson.

In January 2018, Intocast Uk moved to a new modern office/production facility in Rotherham. This will help Intocast Uk strengthen it’s posistion as one of the Uk’s leading refractory manufacturers and suppliers. The move was driven by the requirement for more space in all departments and the premises has been designed to suit our specific requirements whilst also being close to all major road networks.

2018 also saw the Intocast group acquire four brick manufacturing plants , based in Germany , Italy and Spain further cementing the Intocast Group as a major player in the refractory industry.
